SonicWALL Anti-Spam Desktop
SonicWALL® Anti-Spam Desktop delivers anti-spam and anti-phishing protection for
Outlook or Outlook Express e-mail clients on Windows-based desktops or laptops.
With SonicWALL Anti-Spam Desktop, e-mail once again becomes a tool to enhance
productivity - instead of a source of user frustration and a threat to security.
Each time a user opens an Outlook or Outlook Express client, Anti-Spam Desktop starts
scanning and evaluating each e-mail arriving into one or more inboxes via Exchange, POP
or IMAP. Anti-Spam Desktop queries the SonicWALL GRID Network and evaluates each
message. It then places identified spam in a SonicWALL Junk Mail folder, phishing e-mail
in a SonicWALL Phishing Mail folder, challenged e-mail (using the Challenge/Response
option) in a Challenged Mail folder, and legitimate e-mail in the inbox.

evaluates millions of e-mails to evaluate and
determine the security reputation of senders,
content, links, images, attachments and more, with
unparalleled accuracy. Any newly-discovered spam is
removed automatically from the inbox in real-time.
Adversarial Bayesian filtering. SonicWALL
deploys an Adversarial Bayesian engine that not only
examines the content, but also considers hundreds
of other e-mail attributes to detect even the most
subtle spammer tricks, resulting in a true and
complete spam evaluation of each message.
Anti-phishing protection. Anti-Spam Desktop
offers the industry’s only Bayesian Phishing engine,
to detect phishing e-mail with unsurpassed accuracy.
Anti-Spam Desktop places these dangerous e-mails in
their own SonicWALL Phishing Mail folder. This
unambiguous designation of phishing dramatically
reduces the risk of having financial, personal or
proprietary information lost through an e-mailbased
phishing attack.
Flexible protection options. Users may personalize
lists to block or allow e-mail based on e-mail address,
domain name and mailing list. Users can fine tune
the aggressiveness of message filtering based on
the e-mail content (such as “Obscene Language”
or “Advertising”) or even the language type.
Challenge-response ready. SonicWALL Anti-Spam
Desktop can challenge none, some or all of the e-mail
messages received from unknown senders. Challenges
can be text or a visual image and users can customize
the “challenge” message.
